Drupal Open Source Web Design

I’ve been testing a new blog design for eRacks using a template I found at Drupal. I thought it was about time that I did a post about them. I stumbled on Drupal a few months ago when I was searching for free website templates online. I had heard the name tossed around, but somehow I had never gotten around to checking out the site. Drupal is essentially a powerful Open Source platform for creating websites, blogs, and forums. Currently there are 1400 web themes available and over 17,000 add-on modules. They have a huge community of over half a million designers and contributors who are constantly tweaking and creating new content. The majority of the themes available on Drupal are extremely professional looking, and not surprisingly, a lot of businesses are using their templates for their websites. You've probably visited a website designed with a Drupal theme and you didn’t know it. The Examiner.com is just one of several large media and journalism outlets using their themes. With the newspaper industry failing, it’s no surprise that an Open Source platform for web design is a VERY attractive option. I think you could make a strong case that Drupal is one of the 10 best Open Source projects. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them go on to do great things.
